Without a doubt, the world is experiencing a new technological revolution driven by Artificial Intelligence tools. AI is being embedded into existing services, new services based on AI are emerging, AI is penetrating everywhere. It is being talked about everywhere, and surely everyone has heard something about artificial intelligence in one way or another.
But like any revolution, the AI revolution brings with it a huge number of lightning-fast changes that are sometimes difficult to keep track of, let alone learn how to apply and adapt them quickly to your needs. AI technologies are mostly open source, so in theory anyone can use them. Of course, it takes time to understand them, and perhaps more importantly, it takes an internal effort to overcome the psychological fear of something new, "complex" and "unapproachable". New technologies are available to almost everyone, but at the same time we see a situation where the vast majority perceive them as inaccessible and are unlikely to make the effort to master and apply AI technologies simply because it seems very difficult. Studies show that most people who use AI in familiar services are not aware of it (have not done anything extra to master AI), or, for example, only about 20% of companies of any worldwide industries in 2022-2023 have declared their intention to use or confirmed the use of AI tools in business processes. Other studies suggest that around 90% of CEOs are either waiting for GenAI to move beyond the hype or are only experimenting with AI on a small scale.
In other words, the technological revolution associated with AI, done in the name of technological equality and access to technology for all, may actually lead to technological inequality. Those who find the resources (time, money, intellectual experience) and dare to do something technologically new may find themselves far ahead, while others will find themselves on the margins of technology and, as a consequence, cut off from new sources of income and value creation.
